Bio:
Being of Latino origin and growing up in the Central Washington community, he developed an interest in learning more about the history of this community.

He earned a B.A. in History in 2013 and an M.A. in History in 2015, both from Central Washington University, and will complete his Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) from San José State University in December 2025.

He worked as an archivist at Central Washington University for eight years before joining Yakima Valley Libraries, where he currently serves as an archivist. This role has allowed him to further explore and preserve the unique experiences of the Latino community in Central Washington. During his time at CWU, he was involved in collecting oral histories of Latino families in Kittitas County.

He has also contributed to YVL blog posts and public presentations aimed at highlighting Latino historical contributions to Yakima Valley’s history. Carlos is proud and excited to share this unique history with the residents of the LIDERES program.

To this end, he has included materials that reflect unique and local history by Northwest authors to be shared in the program’s classes.
