Our Faculty
CWFMR clinical teaching is provided by board certified family medicine physicians, pediatricians, psychologists, an internist, and a pharmacologist. In addition, over one hundred community physicians and specialists volunteer thousands of hours in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. Our clinical faculty maintain their own clinical practice, assuring clinical and technical competency.
Graduate Medical Education
The Central Washington Family Medicine Residency Program has operated since 1993 and serves both rural and under-served patient populations in the region. We are responsible for graduating nearly 30 family doctors who practice in our area and have helped to ease the primary care shortage. Our historical connection, combined with the range of professional expertise our faculty bring to graduate medical education, creates a unique and comprehensive learning experience.
Faculty are encouraged to pursue their own personal medical interests and as a result their professional competencies include: high risk OB, reproductive health, dermatology, women’s health, global medicine, lactation and breast feeding, nutrition, integrative medicine, hospital inpatient, public health, and POCUS.
Diverse Teaching
In addition to teaching residents, faculty members spend time precepting students. Central Washington Family Medicine continuity clinics serve as sites for the required family medicine clerkships of the University of Washington School of Medicine and Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences.
We also offer fourth year sub-internships for students from U.S. medical schools, educate pediatric dental residents, provide clinical training for physician assistant, nursing and doctor of pharmacy students, and job shadow opportunities for local high school and college students.
