Within CHCW, Sitlali Cortes currently holds the position of Communication Associate. Recently, she has been entrusted as the Public Relations Liaison for the LIDERES-LC program, offering her a chance to expand her contributions.

Her background includes extensive involvement in supporting the Latino community, with a recent focus on the “#NoTechForICE” initiative. This campaign aims to shed light on the significant influence of technology in criminal justice and immigration enforcement. Efforts involve community education to prevent new forms of criminalization, engaging in direct actions against corporate entities, collaborating with tech professionals and students to amplify impact, and urging specific companies to cease their collaborations in these realms.

Her role holds profound personal significance as it resonates deeply with her own experiences. Many of Sitlali’s relatives have faced challenges in accessing adequate medical care and the knowledge that there are healthcare providers dedicated to simplifying the healthcare journey for the Latino community carries immense value to her. Being actively involved in this program holds a special place in Sitlali’s heart.
